My husband and I love theatre and we are introducing many different genres to our 4 children. This is such a sweet story and we would love to do a comparison, like a Venn Diagram, with the book and this production with our 6 and 4 year old girls. We would love to attend and spread the word about not only the production but of the story, too!

    Thank you and Happy Easter!

    Nikki

I am so excited to see that Anne of Green Gables musical is coming to GR! I adored those books as a child (ok, I still do) and can’t wait til my daughter is old enough to enjoy them. My mom and I were supposed to go visit Prince Edward Island but then she got sick and we weren’t able to go. I’d love to be able to take her to see it close to where we live! Next best thing if we can’t go visit the island!

Anne of Green Gables is one our favorite stories. My mom is actually from this area of Canada and the Anne of Green Gables books were favorites of hers and her sisters as well as my Grandma’s. IN the words of my aunt Mary, “We were so eager to get our hands on anything to read and we read Anne of Green Gables over and over. I just loved her and her stories.” My daughter is the 4th generation to enjoy these stories to which she has a cultural connection! And the character Anne is just a wonderful personality for girls, in my opinion. she is proud, brave, smart and gets into plenty of trouble and learns lots of lessons and has great success in life. She’s spunky and the adults learn a lot from her too.

I also love the idea of seeing these stories on stage. It is another way to experience a favorite story and character. We have done this with other books as well like Ramona and Beezus -book, movie, play. Helps young minds absorb the story and experience in deeper and in different ways.

Anne’s loyalty, enthusiasm and indomitable spirit are timeless, and I’d love to have my 3 kids see her story. My daughter has inherited and enjoyed my old copies of the “Anne” books, and my sons have heard me relate many of Anne’s escapades. They would all have fun watching her story come to life. And, to be honest, I want to see it to! You can never have too much “Anne with an ‘e’”.

I would love for her to see Anne of Green Gables, not only because they share a very similar name (my dd’s name is Anna), but because it is a great family classic, with a great message. Unfortunately hubby lost his job the beginning of the year and money is very tight on one paycheck so not much leftover for “fun” stuff right now and so this would give us something fun to do together and share our love of the theatre and the story itself with the kids.

  • Alison Joy

I grew up with Anne of Green Gables. My mother named my sister after the town of Avonlea so Lucy Maude was a big part of all of our lives since the day we were born. My entire families dream is to go to Prince Edward Isle one day, but seeing the play would be amazing as well. I have only seen the movies (and the Avonlea series that was on Disney) and read the books. To see the play would be such a pleasure for me, my sister, my mother, and my daughter. It would be a memory we would treasure forever.

Anne of green gables would be the perfect play to introduce my son to theatre . My family was never big into plays, but I went to a couple a few years ago and since then I’m hooked and definitely want to introduce my son to them.
