Where to Find February Fun in GR

Call us crazy, but we love February in Grand Rapids! Yes, we’re ready for spring, but there’s still plenty of fun to be had outside and opportunities for stay-cation fun abound.

This month will leave you looking at ice (and skating on it too), cooking up fun and staying active indoors. Below, we’ve listed at least one activity for each day of the month. Follow along, or mix them up where you can…either way you’re guaranteed fun with the family you love!

February 1 – Exercise your child’s imagination at a Lions & Rabbits arts and crafts workshop.

February 2 – Discover what drives you, at the Michigan International Auto Show!

February 3 – Take a road trip and help kick off St. Joseph’s 13th Annual Magical Ice Fest!

February 4 – Bring your princesses to the Kroc Center for a night of dinner, dancing and crafts at their annual Daddy Daughter Date Night, or partake in Sunshine Church’s Father Daughter Dance being held at Meijer Gardens. Rather be outdoors? Join the Wittenbach Wege Center’s Winterfest instead!

Sunday, February 5 – Watch in awe as the Care Conservatory of Ballet brings Pied Piper to life, before hunkering down with the family at home to watch Superbowl 51!

February 6 – Kids in grades K-5 can enjoy STEAM activities each week at the Herrick District Library on Makerspace Mondays.

February 7 – Join Accidental Art for story time, where you’ll hear, The Day the Crayons Quit, and then paint crayon banks.

February 8 – Head to Lansing and watch Paw Partol LIVE! On its first-ever tour!

February 9 – Get the wiggles out. For the Kidz, Gymco, GR Gymnastics and R-Athletics all have open gym sessions today!

February 10 – Treat yourself as you sample desserts from local bakeries, pastry shops and restaurants as Dessert Wars returns to GR!

February 11 – Watch (or join) skiers and snowboarders as they compete for the Cup at the SnowDays Rail Jam competition. Too cold? It’s Free Family Day at the Muskegon Museum of Art. Enjoy a showing of Alice in Wonderland, make and take your own self-portrait, and check out their newest exhibit, The Illustrations of David Shannon.

Sunday, February 12 – Enjoy an action packed game of Human Hungry Hungry Hippos Tournament on ice! Registration is sold out, but spectators are welcome!

February 13 – Celebrate winter in Downtown GR during their annual Valent-ICE festival (Feb 10-14). You’ll experience live ice carving, walking and running tours, ice skating and more!

February 14 – Celebrate love enjoying one of our 101 Grand Rapids Date ‘Night’ Ideas.

February 15 – Get a taste of summer, as you revel at the masses of watercraft on display at the Grand Rapids Boat Show.

February 16 – It’s Family Night at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum. Enjoy $1.75 admission from 5-8:00 pm.

February 17 – Introduce your tiny tot (ages 4-6) to the kitchen as you create a fun breakfast together at the Downtown Market’s Family Cooking Class.

February 18 Fall in love with STEM at the GVSU Allendale Campus.

Sunday, February 19 – Spend time with your little ones, 6 and under, without the normal commotion, during AirTime’s Junior Jam.

February 20 – Catch one of the Meijer State Games, as athletes from all over Michigan compete in various sporting events at venues across West Michigan.

February 21 – It’s T.A.C.O. Tuesdays at Celebration Cinemas. Enjoy $5 movies all day!

February 22 – Head to Downtown Grand Haven and discover old and new favorites during Restaurant Week, running February 17-25.

February 23 – Grab a book and read. Set a goal and win prizes too, during GRPL’s Winter Reading Challenge.

February 24 GLOW at SkyZone.

February 25 – Head to Coopersville and laugh as you watch outhouses being raced down Main Street in the 13th Annual Outhouse 500! Then join the family at Star Wars Night with the Griffins! Discounts are available when you use promo code GRKIDS.

Sunday, February 26 – Watch the hills come alive when The Sound of Music takes the stage of the DeVos Performance Hall.

February 27 – Enjoy Family Swim at Goldfish Swim School today from 2-3:00 pm.

February 28 Ice skate at Rosa Parks Circle, and then warm up with Free Tuesdays at the GRAM.
