All Aboard an excursion with Coopersville & Marne Railway
Our family recently got to step back in time and enjoy a nostaglic piece of Americana on a excursion train ride with Coopersville & Marne Railway.
We were excited to ride the rails for our first train excursion.
Each passenger car is a reminder of the days of old.
Our train ride was filled with history…. from the music of eras past, to getting your ticket punched, to the stories of the towns and people who lived in them.
We invented a game during our train ride by creating a point system for each wildlife animal we saw along the way. You can see deer, turkey, eagles, and hawks along with the usual wildlife on any given trip.
On excursions, you get to step out and watch the train uncouple and then couple onto the west end of the train in the town of Marne.
The train ride last about an hour and 15 minutes. This is a great way to slow down and enjoy time together as a family.
The railroad is run by volunteers who are passionate about educating and sharing their love of trains. They are what make this experience so special.
You can check out an excursion or enjoy one of the 6 upcoming theme trains at Coopersville and Marne Railway on Wednesdays or Saturdays. See website for details. They also offer locomotive rides, caboose rental, chartered trains, hobo bindle lunch and pizza train, which are great for groups. You can also “like” them on facebook.[clear][line][clear] Nedra McDaniel is Adventure Mom. Encouraging people to try something new is number one on her list. She writes, “I have always loved to try new things because of my quest for variety. I’m more like an ADD adventure sampler. I like to try, taste and experience different things and places all the time. I will try just about anything and bring along my friends and family for many of the adventures I experience.”
