West Michigan is Full of Free Fun for Kids
Let’s face it: kids are expensive, aren’t they? The clothes they are forever outgrowing, the toys and fun things we do for holidays, the endless snacks they need every day…these things add up quickly (and often painfully!).
Thankfully, we live in an amazing place that offers our kids tons of free activities, resources, and goods. And it’s not just West Michigan. We’ve found 101 Free Michigan things for kids to do through the whole state!
Whether you’re seeking free everyday fun, holiday fun or anything in between, we’ll show you what West Michigan has to offer.
Indoor Play and Entertainment
Because we live in Michigan and it can be snowing one day and blazing hot the next, we need plenty of options for indoor fun. The local library play areas are among the best places for hanging out indoors and you can find story times nearly every day at a library or bookstore.
Beat the heat in the summer time with free movies at Celebration Cinema Woodland. And be sure to check out the annual Flick’s Family Film Festival in the spring at Celebration Cinema locations all over West Michigan.
Even though our weather is unpredictable, there is no denying that we live in a beautiful state – so let’s enjoy it with some free outdoor fun, too! We have endless parks and playgrounds to choose from – and even some shaded playgrounds for some relief from the sun.
But what we really have the corner on is loads of Great Lakes fun and we’ve got a list of beaches that you will love, many which are free (or free with your state parks license pass).
If your kiddos enjoy exploring and you want to get some exercise in, we have some amazing hiking trails in the area.
Keep the kids entertained and spend time in the fresh air at a movie or concert in the park.
Check out all downtown has to offer with the unique and fun Tag Tour.
For some creative outdoor fun, search for painted rocks, or make your own to hide for the next kid.
