Kids Will Love These February Events Around Town

A huge variety of free and affordable activities await you here in West Michigan in February. The month of love brings you winter festivals, animals, movies, bowling, building and more. Don’t miss these memory-making events with your family!

Free and Affordable February Fun in Grand Rapids – 2019

1 – Attend a Festival! Forget summer, winter is where the festivals are at. Fling a frozen fish, see some pro ice carving, catch some snow volleyball, experience the human Hungry Hungry Hippo tournament and more at these free festivals. Running February 1-3 are the South Haven Ice Breaker Festival and the 15th Annual Magical Ice Fest in St. Joseph, February 2 is Snowfest in Muskegon and Valent-ICE runs from February 14-17.

2 – Kids can build and decorate their very own heart shaped box for Valentine’s Day during Kids Workshop: Heart Candy Box at Home Depot on February 2 from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. Workshops happening at Grand HavenKentwoodWalker and Wyoming.

3 – Barnes and Noble is celebrating this month of love with storytime readings of “All You Need Is Love” at Holland, Rivertown and Woodland locations at 11:00 AM on February 9. Enjoy a cookie coloring activity and receive a coupon for the Café for a $4 grilled cheese and milk or juice.

4 – The kids will love exploring the world of nature’s construction workers during Wildlife Encounter – Kids! Beavers: Busy Builders on February 10 from 3:00-4:30 PM at Hemlock Crossing. Kids will enjoy activities, making a craft and taking a walk during this free event. For kids ages 5-12.

5 – Take the family on a walking tour through downtown Grand Haven for Frozen in Time 2019 – Live Mannequin Event on Saturday, February 23 from 2:00-4:00 PM. Shops all over downtown will display live mannequins posing in their windows. Vote for your favorite and win cash and prizes for matching scenes at the awards ceremony immediately following.

6 – Check out the critters and do some crafts at Kids Crafts and Critters at Coopersville Farm Museum on Saturday, February 23 from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM. The last Saturday of each month is Kids Day and features different critters and crafts for kids – come see what is happening this month!

7 – Catch a movie on Tuesdays at Celebration Cinemas. T.A.C.O. Tuesdays tickets are only $6 each all day. This fantastic deal is available at Celebration Cinemas North, SouthRivertown and Carousel (in Muskegon).

8 – Treat the older kids to Buck Night at Hudsonville LanesEvery Monday (9:00-11:00 PM) and Thursday (9:15-11:00 PM) everything is $1 each (games, shoes, hot dogs, fries and pop)!
