Embrace Winter with Free or Affordable January Fun!

I love January. It feels good to take a big sigh of relief after all the holiday craziness, don’t you agree? I love the idea of a fresh start and new possibilities!

Free or Affordable January Fun in Grand Rapids – 2019

1 – Calling all kids who love to create! Home Depot stores are hosting another Kids Workshop where your little contractors can build their very own easel with a whiteboard. Head to Grand Haven, Grandville, Kentwood or Walker on January 5 from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM.

2 – Who doesn’t love the big red dog? That’s right, it’s time for Clifford the Big Red Dog Storytime at Barnes & Noble! Join friends on January 5 at 11:00 AM at stores in Holland, Muskegon, Rivertown and Woodland. Plus, receive a coupon for lunch at the café!

3 – Experience the magic of unicorns at Unicorns Super Saturday at Muskegon Museum of Art on January 12 from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM. Watch a movie, explore the galleries and create a make & take unicorn.

4 – Princesses, fetch your crowns! Join your prince and princess friends at Princess Party at Georgetown Township Public Library on January 12 from 1:00-2:00 PM. Visit with Elsa, Anna and Kristof while you listen to a story, learn, play games, dance and take photos! Registration is required.

5 – Get outside, explore nature, get creative and learn something new at Wildlife Encounter – Kids! Birds at my Feeder on January 13 from 3:00-4:30 PM. Kids will participate in activities, a walk and a craft, all while learning about wildlife found in our own backyards!

6 – Come see what GRPS has to offer, all while having some good, free family fun at Free Winter Carnival & School Choice Expo at GRPS on January 15 from 4:30-6:30 PM. Enjoy food, bounce houses, games, prizes and more at this community event!

7 – Celebrate all winter has to offer during Grand Haven’s Winterfest weekend, January 24 – 27. Activities include a glow bowl, snow volleyball, a family dog pull, an ice cream eating contest, a snow angel contest and more!

8 – Get cozy at Hygge Night at Grand Rapids Public Library on January 24 from 7:00-8:30 PM. Wear your favorite cozy sweaters and enjoy hot drinks, treats, games, picture books in a cozy and warm “hygge” atmosphere! Read more about Hygge in our latest Family Fun Guide.
