Kindergarteners Don’t Lie – GRCM is Bursting with Fun
When I asked my 5 year old what he likes best about a visit to the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, his response was a little long-winded:
“I like the fishies. The big bubble blower thingys. I like the wall climber part. I like the musical instruments–like that bongo drum. And also…let’s see here…those gear things that go around? I like those. I love the checkout area and the freezer in that little pretend Meijer store. I like putting lots of food in my cart. Like, lots and lots of food.
Hmm, I guess those are just all my best parts about the museum!”
It really is hard to pick just one thing; everything is fun! My kids would stay and play all day long if I let them. With two floors full of opportunities to play, learn, and create for kids of all ages–what more could you ask for?
Watch Creativity Run Wild at the New Think Tank Exhibit
Grand Rapids Children’s Museum is adding a new exhibit on November 13 called Think Tank. Think Tank will build on the success of the perennial favorite Imagination Playground, but will add pipe play and a giant Rigamajig set for two new elements.
Just imagine what your kids will create with oversized blocks, piping, planks, pulleys, nuts, bolts and rope that can be combined to link, lift, and launch. Kids can even plan what they hope to build over in the drafting and design station–how fun!
With no right or wrong way to play, Think Tank will look totally different each day as kids’ imaginations come to life through play.
Imagination and play are important to a child’s development and Think Tank hopes to provide endless possibilities for collaboration, creativity, and open-ended play.
What Are You Waiting For? Plan Your Visit to the GRCM!
Grand Rapids Children’s Museum is a quintessential stop if you have a young child in West Michigan. The exhibits change frequently and it’s always fun to stop in and see what’s new while also revisiting your child’s favorite spots.
If you want to stop in and see what all the hype is about, they are located at 11 Sheldon Ave NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Metered parking is located nearby, but there is no dedicated parking lot or parking garage.
Admission is $8.50 per person ages 1-64 years old. You can receive discounted admission if you’re in the military, a teacher, or if you are a EBT or WIC cardholder. If you think you’ll visit more than a couple times, a family membership is an awesome value (and a perfect gift idea for grandparents).
The GRCM is open late on Thursday evenings–and you can play for just $1.75 per person from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
