This is the Best Hands-On Dino Experience for Kids in Town
The Amazing Dinosaurs Have Invaded Both Floors of GRCM!
If your kid knows all the prehistoric critters from ankylosaurus to zuniceratops (raises hand) , threw a watch party when a new season of Dino Dana dropped (raises other hand), or find yourself relating to the maiasaura (falls off of chair), then you just might have a die-hard dino lover in the house.
But really, whether your kid is a diehard or not, they will LOVE the new dinosaurs exhibit at Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, running through January 2020.
The Amazing Dinosaurs are back, and bigger than ever.
Always a favorite, GRCM, with the help of “Dino Tom” Hendershot, has added even more fantastic-jurassic fun to the exhibit that has now taken over both levels of the museum.
Even if your kid isn’t as dino-crazed, they will still have fun playing as they explore.
Kids, “Please DO Touch” These Exhibits!
Typically when you go to exhibits featuring fossils, there is always the same warning: “Do Not Touch.” Not so at Amazing Dinosaurs. They actually want you to touch as much as you want.
Pint-sized paleontologists can try their hand at uncovering actual fossilized teeth in special dig boxes (spoiler alert: the dirt is actually rice).
One of the most popular spots is visiting the life-sized T-Rex head. If you’re really brave, you can push the button to hear him growl. Upstairs, you’ll find another life-size replica of a Raptor guarding her nest.
Right around the corner from Mama Raptor is an epic dress-up station , where you can transform yourself into a ferocious (or friendly) dinosaur.
Some of the best things in the exhibit bring to life how massive dinosaurs were. When you put your own foot inside a T-Rex footprint or take a snapshot from inside a dino skull, kids experience just how big. (Plus, a selfie in a dino skull is pretty rad.)
The apatosaurus gives Amazing Dinosaurs a huge thumbs-up (and we mean that literally and figuratively) and so will your kids! Amazing Dinosaurs is open now until January 20th, 2020.
