  1. First two at Saint’s and the last one will be there too – this is the only hospital that my dr will do a delivery. My only complaint about Saints is that they will not do a “tubal”. This means that a mom potentially has to undergo two surgeries – the first a C and then a tubal at a second location later.

Had an emergency c-section at St. Mary and they were fantastic from the time we arrived to the time we left. They listened, kept us informed, and attended my every need. Wonderful professional, friendly and knowledgeable staff.

At home for the first five, in a baby pool filled with water. The warm water works wonders, and Yolanda Visser is a wonderful (and knowledgeable) midwife! I had my last delivery at St. Mary’s (twins with complications) and they were also wonderful, but as Dorothy says “There’s no place like home.”

I birthed my first at a not to be named hospital, decided while in labor I never wanted to repeat the experience. Recanted on said decision, and went on to have two lovely, peaceful, home births AFTER a Cesarean. Yes, it can be done. I could eat, walk around, play with my little ones, and birthed in a tub. In the middle of the pushing stage, I felt empowered, and like I could do it again. I did. 🙂

2 at Spectrum (Butterworth) 8 and 10 years ago. Awesome! Natural delivery and no one tried to talk me into any pain meds, etc. I was respected in my decision the entire time. Great staff, wonderful nurses. (My husband was awesome, too!) 🙂

Both of my outside babies are Zeeland babies and the one cookin’ is set to be a Zeelander too unless of course he comes a little too early.

I cannot express how much I adore ZCH!

4x at Metro….. 3 were excellent experiences, one “ok” experience. I think a good nurse is worth her weight (or more!) in gold no matter where you go. 🙂 the facility at Metro is absolutely lovely!

I had both my kiddos at home with Yolanda Visser. She is very experienced, professional, and supportive. My husband loved the experiences too.

  9. For my second baby, I went to Zeeland Hospital and had a FANTASTIC experience. I was treated like I was the ONLY mommy there the entire time, even when they had multiple births within an hour. The nurses brought that bedside manner that otherwise seemed to have waned since the nursing shortage. I was always kept up to date about what was going on, and I honestly don’t think I ever had to ask about anything because they gave me the info before I even thought about it. They worked so hard for me and my family! I am so happy I chose Zeeland that time around!!

My entire Spectrum experience was fantastic when i delivered my son. And someday, when we are blessed with baby number two, that’s where we will be.

Metro is the WORST!!! First I was brought the WRONG baby! how do you do that??? then it was a c-section that I had and the nurses never turned on the leg massagers to prevent blood clots and I ended up with a blood clot when I left (never had a problem with the previous two i had)

  12. I had my first baby at Metro (emergency c-section) and had my second baby at Spectrum (VBAC). Metro currently doesn’t allow VBACs so I had to switch to a completely different practice and hospital. Very glad that I did! Everyone was so supportive of my VBAC decision and all of my nurses were so attentive and kind!

I had my 2 babies at St. Mary’s and had an AWESOME experience both times. (June 2008 and May 2011). Nurses are attentive and caring. Very Clean rooms and all of the doctors were wonderful…even the couple I saw that weren’t my own. Definately would deliver here again if we choose to have another baby.

  14. Spectrum health all the way, love the nurses the doctors all the staff. They were so nice and respectful to my husband and I.

I wouldn’t recommend saint marys to anyone. They were so mean and rude when I had my first child. I had one nurse grab my ears and dig her nails into the side of my head. Also I had one nurse try to tell me to tell my family to go home because I wasn’t going to have my daughter that day. When the next day I was suppose to be induced. Well to come to find out at 810 pm June 26 2011 I had a 8lb 8oz 21 inches long baby girl. I was also put into a room with no Windows nothing it was dark and depressing. It seemed like no one used that room for awhile. Dust everywhere. Every time the doctors came to check on me they wouldn’t wash or put on gloves. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone.

Had our first baby at metro. It was great because my ob came in and delivered her, no strange doc for us. The nurses and staff were amazing, helpful, and knowledgeable. They made it a very positive experience. Being my first child, I didn’t know what to expect, and they really eased my fears.

Saint Marys is the best! I’ve had 3 kids there and all great experiences. The nurses are wonderful. My 3 year old was born 10 weeks early and spent 2 months in the nicu and they were absolutely wonderful there couldn’t have asked for better care. I would highly recommend Saint Marys! 🙂

Metro was wonderful!! Smaller than the big hospital- but bigger rooms!!- easy parking for visitors- excellent doctors and nurses! 3d ultrasounds included with our ultrasound at the doctors appointments… And now they have an app that you can check your medical records and notification on all labs – you can get all the notes from your kiddos appointments all right on the app along with emailing your docs!! Smaller hospital with big options! Also the sweet potato fries are amazing!!!!!

  19. I delivered at the “new” Metro just a few months after they opened. Honestly, the birthing went fine, but they had some pretty serious issues. 1: Neither my (then) husband and I had bracelets on to be able to take her out of the nursery (HUGE mistake). 2: I said absolutely no students were to be in my room at all (just preference, I was younger and not a fan of 10 people seeing parts of my body that almost no one else had), yet when the delivery time came, there were 8 students watching. 3: I had requested NO males whatsoever (nurses, doctors), yet I was forced to be checked for dilation by “the only doctor available”. I’m sorry, but I would have waited for a female, esp considering I hadn’t even started contracting yet. They were however very attentive after she was born, both with me and with her.

Outside of those things, it was a very nice hospital. I haven’t been back since for anything, so I don’t know if they have “gotten with the program” in the last 4-1/2 yrs (I’d hope so).

Another vote for st mary’s! Had both my kids there & had excellent care for all of us. Wonderful nurses!!

I absolutely love St. Mary’s. I had five children delivered there (the last two being twins). They provide such a warm, caring environment and have amazing doctors, nurses, lactation consultants, and other staff. They even offer massages the days after delivering. 🙂

Love Spectrum! We had our little girl there 4 weeks early and the staff in labor and delivery and the NICU were amazing. I will never go anywhere else!

Pennock hospital in Hastings is an amazing small town hospital. It is a great environment with experienced and friendly staff. It was remodeled not long ago and you get large, homey birthing rooms. I have had two babies there, the first was a premie and they handled the situation with amazing care. We will be returning there if we have any more! 🙂
