Because HSRT is a professional theatre, kids work with professional theatre artists from around the country in camps themed around the season’s shows.
Hope Summer Repertory Theatre Summer Camps Session Details
FROG AND TOAD’S WE ARE GOING TO LEARN ABOUT THEATRE! (age 3-young 5s/K-2): Students will use their imagination using drawing, movement, and team-building games with the artists of HSRT on the Frog and Toad set.
PLAY ON (grades 3-6): Join us for this high-energy exploration of theatre. Students will expand their imagination and build creativity, confidence, focus and teamwork!
INTRODUCTION TO MUSICAL THEATRE (grades 3-6): Students will work with professional performers to explore the fundamentals of musical theatre, combining song and dance to tell a story.
FRACTURED FAIRY TALES (grades 3-8): Post-apocalyptic Rumpelstiltskin? Sure! The story of Alice and Wonderland told entirely by robots? Sounds great! Students will be given a theme at the beginning of the week, and the opportunity to develop, write and perform their own original take on a time-honored story.
INTRO TO IMPROV (grades 4-8): Learn elements of storytelling through teamwork and creative collaboration in this week-long introduction to improv! Improv camp will give students the tools and freedom to let their zaniest, silliest ideas become cooperative scenes and stories.
NEXT GENERATION OF HSRT – TRACK ONE (grades 8-12): HSRT artists will work with students to create a performance piece which will be presented around Holland. Students will choose the area of theatre they are most interested in and will be matched with a member of the company who they will job shadow and interview.
CONSERVATORY SERIES (grades 6-12): This series will cover all aspects of performance (acting, singing, dancing, movement, Shakespeare and auditioning for the actor), creating a polished audition package in the final audition session.
