‘Own-A-Horse’ Camp offers an outdoor, hands-on, horse experience for all horse lovers!  Students will learn what it is like to own a pony or horse.

What You Can Expect at Legacy Stables ‘Own-A-Horse’ Camp

Located just 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown Grand Rapids, at Legacy Stables & Karin’s Horse Connection we love to share our little slice of heaven with anyone who seeks to experience the joy of a human-horse connection.

We offer horse lovers a safe, relaxing and family friendly environment to learn and make memories. While we cater mostly to new and inexperienced riders, we serve all ages and skill levels.  Our highly qualified staff works with over 20 well-trained, gentle ponies and horses.

While having FUN at the stables, campers will learn all aspects of horse care including feeding, grooming, safety, how horses think, stable management, and more! Kids will ride the horses every day and get to try a variety of disciplines. There will even be a show at the end of the week for parents to watch what they have learned!

Each day, instructors will cover a different subjects, including:

• Safety on and around the horse
• Different breeds, colors and markings
• Horse Psychology – what makes a horse tick?
• How much does a horse cost?
• Horse health issues
• Various riding disciplines
• Parts of the tack
• How to clean a stall and other stable chores

Other fun activities include barn games, horse-related crafts, giving a horse a bath, braiding your horse’s mane, equestrian vaulting, and more!

Legacy Stables ‘Own-A-Horse’ Camp Session Details

The camp takes place at our beautiful horse farm with an indoor arena with heated viewing area and classroom.  Check out our website to ‘meet’ all the horses and staff!

Ages: 6 and up

Dates: April 1-5 and weekdays between June 10 – August 23

Times 8:30 AM-11:30 AM and/or 12:00 PM-3:00 PM. Half-day or whole-day options.
