LEWIS FARMS AND PETTING ZOO FIELD TRIP DETAILS
Searching for a fun, educational field trip about plant life cycles, pollination, agriculture, and animal well being that is geared to age level? A Field Trip to Lewis Farms is just what you’re looking for AND it’s structured to help reinforce Michigan Education Standards! We make learning hands on and fun!
The farm is family-owned and operated, with homegrown produce, fruit orchards, a farm market with gifts and goodies, a scrumptious bakery, homemade fudge, and much more! The fun starts in May and continues through our Harvest Festival (with pumpkins and corn maze) in October.
Our petting zoo has barnyards with over 75 unusual animals from A-Z, everything from alpacas to zebus! We pride ourselves on having one of the nicest, cleanest petting farms you will ever see! Feed the budgies in the aviary, pet the goats, visit with Jeffery the Arabian camel, laugh at the prairie dogs, and meet our newest friends the lemurs!
Everyone on your field trip will have an opportunity to pet and feed our animals if they wish to do so. Find out what the animals eat and where they come from! Lewis Farms and Petting Zoo is truly a learning adventure for students and teachers that they won’t soon forget.
LEWIS FARMS AND PETTING ZOO IS UNIQUE AND FULL OF FUN!
We believe that our barnyards of animals are the most unique experience at Lewis Farms — and this is just where your exciting field trip begins! Depending on the season, the adventure will vary. It’s an adventure, but it’s educational as well!

FUN FOR EVERY SEASON
Take home a Garden in a glove – each child receives a glove containing seeds they can grow at home including lima bean, black bean, corn, barley, and sunflower. The Apple Express wagon ride will tour the orchards – you’ll see trees in bloom, baby fruit growing on the trees, and bees actively working on pollination.
Watch our big Pumpkin Chucker cannon, if the weather cooperates. Pumpkins fly up to half a mile – really! Board the Apple Express for a narrated wagon ride through the Enchanted Forest, then out to the apple orchard to learn about apples and other fruits we grow. The Apple Express stops at a special little garden where students can pick a pumpkin to take home.
Don’t forget to bring your cameras!
