Plus…Don’t Miss The BIG GIG 2017!
Do You Have a Budding Rockstar at Home?
…Or a child who loves to write their own songs, or one who has just always loved music?
Triumph Music Academy in Grand Rapids is celebrating six years of being the area’s highest rated music school (according to the Better Business Bureau of Western Michigan), and is the perfect place to nurture young musicians.
Triumph’s unique philosophy of focusing on each student’s own interests sets them apart from the crowd. You’ll find among their diverse program offerings lessons in everything from classical to rock, as well as electronic music production, composition, and hip-hop lyricism!
“We have the largest offering of programs in Grand Rapids,” says James Forrest Hughes, owner and director of Triumph.
“We teach anyone anything they want to learn, from classical music to jazz to blues, to rock, folk, and indie rock. We focus on the interests of the students and put together very individualized programs.”
Triumph students learn how to play with confidence, gig in bands at area venues and events, record at professional studios, and develop their artistry. Private lessons for students begin at age seven or eight, and for younger children interested in music, Triumph has a unique partnership with Joyful Music Sounds Studio.
The Teachers are Professional Musicians
One of the best things about Triumph is their A-list staff. “Everyone who teaches at Triumph is a professional musician who you see giggin’ out around town,” says Hughes. “They tour, they’re studio musicians, composers, song writers. Everyone who teaches at the school is a high caliber performer, as well as a great teacher and mentor.”
Triumph’s staff includes Theo Ndawillie II of Vox Vidorra, award-winning singer/songwriter Karisa Wilson, and touring musician Geoffrey Kartes of Watching for Foxes, just to name a few! In addition, the school has an active recording program through River City Studios, through which many students get to experience the thrill of recording and producing a song.

Support a truly great local music school and enjoy an evening full of astounding musicianship, diverse styles, and a generally rockin’ good time!
“This year we have more original music than has ever been performed previously,” says Hughes.
