What stood out to me was the idea of investing in lessons for our kids, and maybe refresher lessons for adults! The cost and the idea that we don’t know what we’re doing is holding us back from skiing as a family. This article made it sound like a fun and rewarding adventure!

  9. Sarah Ruch February 15, 2018 at 9:24 pm

I can relate with feeling too old since I learned how to snow board at 35, because my husband was teaching our two kids and he needed some help out on the slopes with both of them. I never regret learning. Snowboarding together has been some of the best memories our family had made.

In the article I like how you explain how confident your ski lessons made you feel and how much fun your kids had in them too. I think often people think they are a waste of time…but it’s money well spent for adults and their kids! There’s a lot of tips to learn to help you have a lot more fun in the slopes and ski safely.

We are not a ski family either although I have tried a few times (prekiddos) and my 9yo daughter tried last year and loved it. What stood out to me is that there’s so much more than skiing at Crystal! My 4yo son thinks he can snowboard after watching the Olympics and I would totally put him in some lessons if we went to Crystal. But I’m thrilled to know there’s so many other activities there in case he has a hard time (he has some special needs). That might convince my husband to go!

Skied Crystal every weekend as a kid. Haven’t been much of a skier in the last few years, but my dad still goes and I have taken my son out a few times in the last few years. I hope to get him on the chairlift soon, as we will be going out west skiing next month! The thing that sticks out to me about Crystal is the amount of activities that are available! Honestly, what stood out was how negative the article began, with listing all of the reasons someone wouldn’t ski/visit your resort. I first think of the many reasons why I WOULD want to visit Crystal Mountain Resort! It is a
fabulous resort nearby right here in our very own beautiful state!

  183. Jennifer LaClair February 10, 2018 at 10:05 pm

I haven’t been skiing since I was a child, my grandmother took my siblings and I way back when I was in elementary school. My grandmother passed away two years ago, and the part about passing on the tradition of skiing really stuck in my head. Maybe I should take my kids. I also really liked all the other activities, that was the clincherfor me; swimming, snowshoeing, horse carriage rides, ooh the spa! Yes, I’m in haha

We never went there as well as we never skied in family! As a mom of 3, I had 3 bad falls when I was skiing in France with then knee surgeries so I was afraid of skiing again… but I am ready to give it another try if I take lessons!!! My husband who loves skiing would be the happiest man and dad on earth if we could do that in family in this country we want to discover in winter too!

I didn’t realized there were so many things to do at Crystal. We always come up from GR to meet family for one day of open to close skiing each winter, but would love to spend a weekend trying all the other activities!

  343. Linda Warner February 5, 2018 at 9:46 pm

What stood out for me was a few things. First, my reason for not skiing wasn’t on the author’s list: bad knee. With no ACL I’ve been told downhill skiing would not be a good idea for me because to the sideways forces on the knee in turns. However, I’ve been wanting to learn to snowshoe for several years, so that intrigued me. Plus the whole family loves swimming. Snow and swimming in one weekend would be heaven for my kids! I like that they have lessons, as My son has been learning to snowboard on his own, but could really benefit from tips from a pro.I also loved the cozy and totally functional cabin pictured in the review. This giveaway will provide one lucky family with a great getaway.

What jumped out to me in the post about Crystal Mountain/skiing was one of the reaons “I don’t ski” is because over the past 9 years, we’ve had little kids! One of us either had to stay home with the littlest ones or if we tried to go out as a family, one (or both of us) are with the kids helping THEM ski. Now that our youngest is almost 5… it’s TIME to get myself back on the slopes! I can’t wait to move into the next phase of parenting with kids who are a little older so we can ALL enjoy one of my most favorite winter activities! We loved Crystal when we visited in the summer and would love to go back for skiing, snowshoeing, boarding, pool, SPA… and most of all… family time. Thank you for the post with all of the helpful info!

That they have mastered the art of teaching people to ski. As an adult, learning something new is intimidating, but caring teacher would make all the difference.

I “liked” Crystal Mountain.. I didn’t realize all of the activities that are available until I read the article. The ski lessons for novices would make skiing less intimidating for so many!

What jumped out at me was the ski lessons and about kids skiing for free. The cost was one of the main reasons I haven’t attempted to take the kids and that I haven’t skiied since middle school.
