GRCM is Our Go-To Spot for Afternoon Adventure

My husband and I are working parents, but I am lucky enough to have Thursdays off.  As part of my mom-guilt for working, I always feel the need to take my kids somewhere fun on my day off.

A couple of years ago we were invited by friends to join them at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum. Before we had even left, I bought a membership!

There was so much to do, that I knew if we came back the following week they would have a ton a fun again!  Fast-forward to today, and we are still going to the museum at least once a month – it’s our go-to spot!

Unforgettable Learning Time

As kids head back to school, it’s important to continue to give them opportunities for open-ended play. At the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, they believe that play is far more than an activity.

Play teaches us how to create, how to solve problems, and how to work as a team. Whether kids are pretending to be firefighters inthe NEW “911 Dispatch” exhibit, exploring mini-Grand Rapids, or making a giant bubble, they will have an unforgettable time learning — probably without even realizing it!

Did You Know that GRCM Started at Woodland Mall?

The Grand Rapids Children’s Museum has been around for over 20 years, and it all started at Woodland Mall! It made it debut with only two exhibits, Funstruction and Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles! These exhibits were such a success, the museum found its home the following year in downtown Grand Rapids where it could grow to what it is today.

GRCM has been providing children with open-ended play ever since!

  1. This was the first children’s museum my siblings and I went to ever. This was shorty after we moved to the states as refugees in 1999. We loved everything about it, especially the bubbles, I also took my two kids there last Halloween event in 2017.
Great memories! I don’t have Facebook but I will definitely share with friends and family on Instagram!

  2. The fishing boat was always my grandsons favorite!!! The dress up clothes my granddaughters favorite.

  3. The bubble station has always been a favorite of mine since I was a child and now I get to see my sons faces when they pull the bubble tube up over their heads! I also loved the Mister Roger’s neighborhood exhibit when that happened.

  4. My family of 4 just moved here from Oregon and have never been but if its anything like the Portland kids museum we can wait. Its is on our must do list. This would be a wonderful opportunity for our family to meet new friends and have a blast doing it. Thanks!

  5. One of my niece loves the cop car she loves to act as if she is a real cop

My other niece loves the bubble exhibit she always try to make the biggest bubble she can do

  6. We have never been but my 10 month old is walking and into everything and i know she would love this.

  7. My family loves going to the children’s museum! I personally love the bubble station whereas my daughter loves the imagination lab, legos, and the slides!

  8. My son has Autism and we loved that he was able to explore and touch everything it was an amazing day for him! Sadly we were only able to go the one time! But he loved it all!

We also liked the Grandrapids children’s museum on your Facebook page! Thank you!

  9. I have only been there 1 time and it was over a year ago, so I don’t remember the exhibit so that well…but we are always looking for activities to do!

  10. I don’t know about me, but my son loves the bees and the fire truck. We haven’t been in a while, though.
