WIN! A Variety of Passes for a Day of Adventure at John Ball Zoo
Before I had kids, I thought that John Ball Zoo was a pretty neat place.
Now that I’ve had kids, I realize that John Ball Zoo is an incredible family activity!
The zoo is easy to get to, has plenty of parking, 2 playgrounds outside the zoo, and lots of picnic tables.
Once inside, there are even more play areas, of course dozens of fascinating animals, and several ways for you to experience fun and nature.
Read on to see how you can win a Mega Adventure Pack from John Ball Zoo that will include a lot of these exciting add-ons!
On Beyond Zebra – John Ball Zoo’s Amazing Wild Animal Exhibits Are Just the Beginning
What I love about John Ball Zoo is that after visiting and learning about so many interesting animals, you can throw on some bonus activities for icing on the cake.
You can ride a camel, challenge yourself to a ropes course, mine for gems, get your face painted, ride a funicular, fly along a zipline, feed adorable parakeets, pet goats and… let me see. Should I list them all? Nah – you’ll have to visit John Ball Zoo to see for yourself.
But trust me that there’s a lot of extras for kids at the zoo. Some are free with admission, and others have an extra cost.
High Flying Adventures at John Ball Zoo
John Ball is built on a hill, which makes for some unique zoo experiences.
One-way funicular passes offer an easy ride to the highest peak of the zoo, so you can skip the inclining walk and do your exploring as you walk downhill instead. Or you can choose to hike up and see the animals, then use the passes for a relaxing ride back down to the zoo entrance.
The zipline and ropes course bring thrilling excitement if you’re daring enough to see the zoo from four stories high! Fly across the 600-foot line or challenge your physicality and balance by navigating through the obstacles. And remember to wear closed toed shoes to participate in these bold feats!
Where Kids can Find Hands on Animal Interactions
My kids love getting as close to animals as they can. When we go to John Ball Zoo my kids make a beeline for the petting farm, which is free.
And then they race up to the Budgie Aviary. For $1/stick, you can feed these small, colorful birds.
After they’ve pet a goat, and fed a bird, have your kids ride a camel at the zoo! (I’d recommend going in this order, from exciting, to more exciting, to most exciting.)
Future zookeepers will want to head over to the Forest Realm Amphitheater (near Tigers of the Realm) to see a rotating list of animals up close in the Tools of the Trade Animal Encounter. You could see a barn owl, armadillo, sandhill crane, and maybe even a skunk!
Here kids can get a look at how staff trains and cares for their animals, as well as hear about wildlife conservation in this free activity. (Current run times are 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM.)
