Contra Dancing is a kind of folk dancing enjoyed around the world. Live music, instruction provided for each dance, no partner required. Great for families, singles, couples. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. If you can walk, you can contra. Beginners and experienced dancers welcome.
Live music is typically Irish, Scottish, old-time and French-Canadian folk tunes ….. fiddle, guitar, banjo, bass, mandolin, and sometimes piano, accordion, flute, clarinet and more depending on the band.
The March Holland Contra will feature live music by Grand Rapids band, “Gooder ‘N Grits”. Polly Eizel, will call the dances. All dances are taught and walked through before the music begins.
Intro workshop at 7:00 pm. Dance begins at 7:30 pm.
Bring your friends and a snack to share. Great fun and exercise!
