WinterWest is a winter fun, free event in collaboration with the City of Grand Rapids Parks and Rec Department, Friends of Grand Rapids Parks and West Grand Neighborhood Organization to encourage outdoor park engagement during the chilly winter months.

This event is free to the public. The popular youth and adult crazy cardboard sled races return this year! Bring your family and friends and enjoy hot chocolate, kid activities, snowman and snow fort building, and more!

Sled Races: Sled races will be organized for youth and adults in separate races. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Most Creative Sleds as well as Distance.

Snowman and Snow Fort Contest: Participants must provide their own scarf, carrot, and other snowman accessories. Judging will take place at 1:00 pm. The contest is open to all families, individuals, and organizations.

Snowshoeing: Snowshoe through the trails of Richmond Park!

Fat Tire Bike: Fat tire bikes will be available for participants to ride through the trails of the park as well.

Kids Crafts/Activites: Crafts and games will be facilitated near the lodging area of the park.

Nature Walk and Tree ID: Learn to identify a tree simply by the kinds of leaves it produces! An FGRP staff member will lead the event.
