It’s time to upload your content for an IG Reel on GRKIDS!

Example of a great reel:

This Instagram Reel on top cocktail places was super popular with readers. Why? Part of it was that exciting video at the beginning of Max’s South Seas Hideaway.  THAT grabbed people.

Here are some tips for getting the most out of your feature in an Instagram Reel:

✅ Content that “stops the scroll” and captures the reader’s attention. This includes

  • Lots of action
  • Visually appealing video & images
  • Interesting/unique content

Video clips

  • Send 3 vertical video clips with 2-3 seconds of exciting content. Horizontal content cannot be used in reels. Content is specific to the guide you’re featured in. (If it’s fall family fun, the clip should be from the fall, not summer or winter. Make sure your content matches what we are promoting.)
  • Include a variety of clips (pan left to right, right to left, top to bottom, bottom to top, zoom in, & zoom out.) Make sure to go slow enough that the content is easy to see & not blurry.
  • Include clips that showcase your business. If you’re a dance studio, clips of dancing are great, but where is this happening? Show your studio in the background. People like to see where they are going before they go. They like to know what to expect. Give them a sneak peak!
  • Include people doing things in your clip (show the experience happening in real time).

Images

  • 2 -3 vertical images showcasing what you offer. (Horizontal images cannot be used for reels)
  • See video guidelines for types of content to look for in your pics.

❌ Here are things we’ve noticed do NOT engage audiences:

  • TikTok & Instagram videos already created. (When we try to use the TikTok video on IG it has the floating TikTok icon, IG doesn’t like that and won’t share it to a lot of viewers.)
  • Videos with text/music on them.
  • Staged content. (Where people are standing still and smiling directly at the camera.) It’s perceived as fake & unoriginal and readers disengage with that.
  • A zoomed in photo with no context in the background. (If the photo could be from anywhere, why would we visit your business? readers wonder. )
  • A video or photo that doesn’t match the guide. (Example: a picture of a hand with a manicure when the topic is mommy & me pedicures.)
  • A picture with no one in it and you can’t tell what the content is about. (Example: driver’s training reel – If there are just images of cars, and not people learning how to drive, they’ll be confused and immediately forget you.)
