Shannon from Hearts for the Arts invited my family to come see her newly reopened studio and discover Hearts for the Arts ourselves. All opinions are my own.
HEARTS FOR THE ARTS IS NOW OPEN
Shannon Andrus, owner of Hearts for the Arts in Grand Rapids, is also a mom of a two year old with another on the way (any day now).
After her first son was born, Shannon decided to close Hearts for the Arts to focus on motherhood. But the phone kept ringing.
So she reopened the art studio – just around the corner from their family business, Mitten Brewing Company – a few months back. Since then, she’s been booking birthday parties, girls’ night out events, and holding classes for all ages, including art classes for those with special needs.
PROJECTS FOR ALL SKILL LEVELS AND AGES
When you walk into the studio you’re greeted with a wall of inspiration:
Shannon has designed the studio for everyone. There are many projects to choose from, from painting, to paper crafts, to things you might find on Pinterest.
Just pick a project from the online calendar, pre-register and show up.
TINY TOTS TUESDAYS, OPEN ART STUDIO AND SPECIAL NEEDS ART THERAPY
Shannon has a selection of adorable projects for parents to do with their children. She also has a weekly program dedicated to special needs art therapy.
These offerings are updated monthly on her calendar. And don’t worry- she won’t be shutting the studio down when she has her second child next month. She has a staff that is trained and ready to teach during her absence.
HAVE YOUR OWN STUDENT ART SHOW
Unique to Hearts for the Arts are their Student Art Shows. Students that sign up for eight hours a month (classes or studio time) are eligible to have an art show at Hearts for the Arts. Even cooler is that 100% of the proceeds go to the student.
