February is Short, but Sweet, and Packed with Fun
Call us crazy, but we love February in Grand Rapids! Yes, we’re ready for spring, but there’s still plenty of fun to be had outside and opportunities for stay-cation fun abound.
February may be just four short weeks, but it packs in many opportunities for family fun all around the Grand Rapids area and West Michigan. From watching the opening ceremonies of the winter Olympic games or trying out some winter Olympic sports, to dances and spa nights, and even a chili crawl, perhaps February will be a month to try something completely new.
While some of these events are one time only, others are reoccurring, so make sure to check the daily calendar to perfectly plan your February fun!
Thursday, February 1 – Brush up some fun at Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, tonight with FREE admission for Tooth Time.
February 2 – Treat yourself to an evening of pampering at Renew Mama Studio’s Mom & Daughter Spa Night.
Sunday, February 4 – Your family can participate in a Winter Try-Athlon featuring luge, ice speedskating, and cross-country skiing at the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex.
February 5 – Let your teen beat winter blues with a Cabin Fever Cupcake evening at the Alpine KDL branch. Pre-registration is required.
February 6 – Learn about bravery and loyalty as Circle Theatre Presents: Four Score and Seven Years Ago.
February 7 – Drop off your littles to work out some wiggles at R-Athletics for their Little Ones Lunch & Learn program.
February 8 – Help your child (and you) prepare for success in school at GRPL’s Play & Learn Group.
February 9 – Cheer on the USA as the Opening Ceremony of Winter Olympics is projected onto a large screen at Rosa Parks Circle, along with several other World of Winter activities.
February 10 – Dads, take your girls out to An Evening in Candyland at this year’s Kentwood Daddy Daughter Dance. Tcikets are $20/couple, $5 for each additional daughter.
Sunday, February 11 – Save some money when you hit the slopes by taking advantage of Cannonsburg Ski Area’s Sunday Night Crazy Rates.
February 12 – Take a dip in 90 degree water at Goldfish Swim School’s Family Swim.
February 14 – Snowshoe With Your Sweetie during a candlelit walk along Blandford Nature Center’s trails. Snowshoe rentals available or bring your own.
February 15 – Watch your favorite Disney characters in a spectacular performance at Disney On Ice: Reach For the Stars at Van Andel. Tickets start at $15.
February 16 – Jump into fun during GLOW at SkyZone featuring a 2-hour jump session in black light.
Sunday, February 18 – Sample foods provided by NoLo’s Soul, Irie Kitchen, Big Ed’s BBQ, and Mosby’s Popcorn, as well as presentations of African American art, literature, and history at GRPL’s Main Branch during Taste of Soul Sunday.
February 19 – Dig out your swim suits and goggles for Holland Aquatic Center’s Family Open Swim.
February 20 – Kids ages 10+ are invited to Learn to Pysanky (decorated Ukrainian Easter eggs) at Between the Covers bookstore in Holland.
February 21 – Go for the gold at Olympic Fun For Your Little One hosted by the Gary Byker Memorial Library in Hudsonville.
February 22 – Make it a play date to remember at the Forever Curious Children’s Museum in Fennville for their Moms & Tots morning.
February 23 – Follow the yellow brick road to Grand Rapids Ballet Junior Company’s The Wizard of Oz.
February 24 – Heat things up at Spicy Saturday at the Downtown Market today as the market hall vendors feature items that are extra fiery.
Sunday, February 25 – Play trivia games, hear stories from behind the scenes, and more with some of your kid’s favorite Disney stars during Teen Stars Live.
February 26 – Adapted from the popular Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan, watch as Circle Theatre presents: The Lightning Thief.
February 27 – Enjoy a fun and interactive story time at Frederik Meijer Gardens during Cozy Tales For Chilly Days.
February 28 – Let the Civic Theatre transport you to Edwardian London as they present the classic musical My Fair Lady.
