July Is Sizzling With Summer Fun!

High summer is here! Starting the month off with parades and fireworks to celebrate the Fourth and festival after festival after festival, there’s no shortage of fun to keep the family entertained (and there’s still more to do if festivals aren’t your thing). We’ve found live music, classic cars, outdoor movies, stage productions and more to fill up your July. Making life even sweeter, 17 of these things are FREE!

July Activities for Kids Around Grand Rapids – 2019

July 1 – Swing in for story time and a snack at Southtown Guitar as they read selections from Giants of Jazz with accompanying music.

July 2 – It’s Fun on the Farm with pony rides, hayrides, feeding the animals and more at Teusink’s Pony Farm.

July 3 – Drop into Summer Rec Days for crafts, snacks and STEM projects on Wednesday mornings this summer!

July 4 – Happy Birthday, USA! Celebrate with a local parade or fireworks display.

July 5 – Marshall and Rumble will be visiting the Whitecaps (along with other Paw Patrol themed events) during tonight’s FANomonal Friday.

July 6 – Build a custom toy tow truck with an operational boom this morning at The Home Depot locations in Grand Haven, Grandville, Kentwood, Walker, and Wyoming.

Sunday, July 7 – Take the big kids out for a family session of kayaking along the Grand when you rent some vessels at Riverside Park Lagoon.

July 8Zeelmania comes to Main Street this evening with a healthy-living street fair for the whole community!

July 9 – The hilarious magician Cameron Zvara performs in the morning at GRPL Main Branch and again in the afternoon at West Leonard Branch.

July 10 – It’s Baby Animal Week at Boulder Ridge. All week, encounters with baby animals will be happening along with a 1st Birthday Party for Toskey the Giraffe!

July 11 – Groove to the music over the Grand River during this easy to learn dance workout on the Gillett Bridge.

July 12 – Catch an outdoor film tonight at either Matilda at Movies on Monroe, Mary Poppins Returns in EGR, or Wonder in Allendale.

July 13 – Parades are happening this morning in Lowell for Riverwalk Festival and Ionia for the start of the Free Fair.

Sunday, July 14 – Bake a pie, tart, or cobbler with some freshly picked berries or cherries.

July 15 – Get Down Dog with an outdoor yoga session at 6th Street Park.


July 16 – Get down with the Flippy Floppy Floory Dance as Elephant & Piggy’s “We Are In A Play!” comes the stage.

July 17 – Explore the Lena Meijer Children’s Garden and ACT’s new mobile studio The Creative Cube this evening during Family Fun Night. This event is free, but does require registration.

July 18 – The Baby Food Festival kicks off in Fremont, home of Gerber. Events including a bed race, kids zone, baby crawl and more.

July 19 – Spend the day in Ada! Start with Summer Splash, stroll around the downtown (hello Ada Village General Store!) and then cap it all off at the Beers at the Bridge concert.

July 20 – It’s Demolition Derby Day at the Van Buren County Fair.

Sunday, July 21 – Wind down the weekend with a magical Sunset Concert at Camp Blodgett on the shores of Lake Michigan. While admission is free, there is a suggested donation of $10.00.

July 22 – Cool down and have some wet fun by visiting a splash pad (or go for bingo by visiting multiple!).

July 23 – Try your hand at an Egg Run, Flying Chickens, Toss A Pig and more when you visit the Muskegon County Youth Fair.

July 24 – Enjoy outdoor story time at John Collins Park this morning hosted by the EGR KDL.

July 25 – A Family Fun Night and a Classic Car Ice Cream Cruise start the Byron Days festivities this evening.

July 26 – Get adventurous with kneeboard, SUP, and more when you join us at Action Wake Park today. We’ve partnered with them for a deal you can’t miss!

July 27 – The Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival starts today with the Kid’s Parade in the morning and the popular Cardboard Boat Races in the afternoon.

Sunday, July 28 – Travel to Narnia as a ballet production of “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” graces the stage at Calvin College.

July 29 – Equip your athlete with proper form and technique with a session of Strength & Agility Training

July 30 – If the weather is beautiful, hit the beach! If it’s not so beautiful, find a favorite indoor play spot.

July 31 – Things grow curiouser and curiouser in “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” at the Civic Theatre.
