Adventure Awaits in August!
Summer may be hitting the dog days, but that doesn’t mean an end to all the fun. A month of sunshine, warmth and countless ways to check items off the summer bucket list, you’ll find that there are plenty of ways to beat the heat and explore West Michigan.
Festival season is still in full swing with plenty of community fairs to stop by, as well celebrations of different cultures.
Pirates are sailing around the shores of South Haven and Frederik Meijer Gardens is celebrating your un-birthday.
Outdoor concerts fill the cooler evenings with music and outdoor movies will delight audiences of all ages.

Celebrate Summer in August with Kids – 2019
August 1 – Visit John Ball Zoo during WGVU’s Kids Day! Discounted tickets are only $4.00 a person and can be purchased at any Meijer or KDL branch.
August 2 – Enjoy crafts, entertainment and more during the August in Ada Children’s Fair.
August 3 – Fly over the finish line as The Super Run invites heroes of all ages to run this 5K race through Riverside Park.
Sunday, August 4 – Celebrate with Kids Unlimited Gymnastics during their Annual Super Sunday Open House. There will be food and entertainment, plus all the great gymnastics fun to try out!
August 6 – It’s National Night Out! These localized events are designed for community members to get to know their local law enforcement and first responders.
August 7 – While the Lena Meijer Children’s Garden celebrates their birthday, they invite you to celebrate your Un-Birthday! Today a fiber artist will be leading a special story and craft.
August 8 – The National Blueberry Festival in South Haven kicks off today. Come tonight for a Pie & Ice Cream Social.
August 9 – The Grandville Vintage Fest is bringing excitement to the air with the Hooligans Flight Team, How To Train Your Dragon, and more.
August 10 – Build your own fantastical sand creation or simply admire the craftsmanship of others during the Grand Haven Sand Sculpture Contest.
