Where Local Story Times are Happening Today Around Grand Rapids

Due to COVID-19, local libraries are closed and storytimes have been canceled for the time being. We will update this post when the situation changes.

Grand Rapids Story Times are Fun, Educational, and Free!

Who doesn’t love an activity with kids that is well-organized, educational, fun, and FREE?? Heading to the local library for story time is one of my favorite outings with my kids! We live in Alger Heights and love to bike over to Grand Rapids Public Library Seymour Branch.

Each session includes singing, rhymes, and, of course, story time!

After story time, there is a hand-ons activity and playtime. During activity time, we’ve made construction vests out of duct tape, colored with bingo dabbers, and made flowers out of pipe cleaners. The last time we went there was even a bubble machine!

More than Story Time

An added bonus of Story Time at the library is that it is a great way to connect with parents in your neighborhood.  I love to meet other moms who live nearby and catch up with them on weekly basis.

I’ve also learned valuable parenting advice at story time. I learned that the slower pronunciation in singing promotes language development.  Since then we’ve been jamming out in the car to Disney songs and learning at the same time!

Check out our list below of story times around the area both at libraries and bookstores and head to your local one to connect with your neighborhood and enjoy a fun-filled and educational time with your kids!
