This Canopy Walk at Dow Gardens is a Popular Midland MI Destination
This fabulous stop is home to the nation’s longest canopy walk.
Officially known as Whiting Forest of Dow Gardens, this Midland family attraction is open year round (minus Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day) and does require admission.
Your ticket gets you into the Canopy Walk as well the adjacent Gardens – including their amazing Children’s Garden.

Whiting Forest is in Midland, MI
Push a stroller if you’d like, the canopy walk is accessed by long, gradual ramp-like walkways.

Take your time to explore the different nooks and crannies along the way.
There are three separate arms of the canopy walk to investigate.
Cargo nets and a glass floor viewing platform are some of the fun features waiting to be discovered.

Plus, you’ll find egglike structures to sit in, ropes to climb on, and always a really sweet view.

Play at the Nature-Inspired Playground
You’ll be able to see the playground from the Canopy Walk – it’s just steps away.
In the summer, there is water play integrated into the play structure, so you might want to bring a change of clothes.

The playground is geared toward younger kiddos, probably 7 and under. However, bigger kiddos might be inspired to play too!

Restrooms and a cafe sit right next to the playground. This place is a hot spot and can get busy – a visit early or late in the day or midweek can help with the crowds.

As of September 2025, they are currently undergoing a little construction. They are building a new visitors center and reworking the parking lot. They suggest to use the main entrance instead of the St. Andrews entrance.
