Everyone Can Have a Christian Education at AnchorPoint

You’ve snuggled your newborn baby, finished potty training and now it’s time to send your kiddo off to school. Perhaps you’re interested in a Christian education, but think you can’t afford to pay the tuition.

Is there an affordable Christian school in West Michigan? There is. It’s AnchorPoint Christian School in Wyoming.

Funded mostly through community donations of time, talent, materials and money, AnchorPoint is a trauma-informed mission school serving the low-income, underserved families of the Wyoming community.

Read on to learn more about the amazing way the school serves Jesus and the community and how you can be part of this mission – or if this school could be the right fit for your family.

AnchorPoint is on a Mission to Serve the Community

Established in 2010, AnchorPoint Christian School is entering its 16th year serving Jesus and the community.

“We felt there was a need for a Christian school in the heart of Wyoming,” Lael Mulder, Principal of AnchorPoint, recalls. The school was established as a mission school so that any family who wanted a Christian education could receive it, whether or not they could afford to pay tuition.

AnchorPoint strives to keep their tuition affordable so that finances are not a barrier to receiving a Christian education. As such, the staff considers their jobs to be a mission for Jesus. “We look at this work as if we are doing missionary work,” explains Principal Mulder. They strive to be disciples of Jesus to everyone.

With Trauma-Informed Teaching, All Kids Can Thrive

Unique among Christian schools, the entire staff at AnchorPoint is trauma-informed and all the teachers are trauma-certified. They delve deeper than other teachers might, really getting to know the child and their background. Their teaching reflects this.

“You can’t teach reading and writing to a child without acknowledging their emotional health,” says Principal Mulder.

The students feel safest at school, where there is routine and stability. Students are nurtured to be loving disciples of God and live up to their fullest potential.

“It’s about being very intentional with the language we use and helping the students feel loved and safe,” reminds Principal Mulder.

At AnchorPoint Christian School, the students don’t just come to school to learn – they come to school to thrive.

Athletic Opportunities at AnchorPoint

A wrestling program at a Christian school? You bet! All kids in grades K – 6 can participate on AnchorPoint’s wrestling team.

“Wrestling is about keeping your body moving and doing that safely,” explains Principal Mulder.

In a school of 80 kids, 30 of them are on the wrestling team – boys and girls. “We have more girls who wrestle than boys,” laughs Principal Mulder. They participate in meets throughout West Michigan.

Through community donations, these kids are able to do something that may otherwise not be available to them.

“Our kids love it!” exclaims Principal Mulder.

Preschool and Daycare Also Available

AnchorPoint Christian School educates grades PK – 6 and they also have an Early Childhood Center.

New for the 2025 – 2026 school year, this preschool program is for kids ages 3 – 5 and is open daily from 7 AM – 5:30 PM. The flexible program grows and changes with each child. They’re given plenty of time to play along with structured activities – inside and outside.

Children must be 33 months old and potty trained by September 1 of that school year in order to attend.
