Legacy Camp 2020 Kids Grooming

At Legacy Stables & Karin’s Horse Connection we love to share our little slice of heaven with anyone who seeks to experience the joy of a human-horse connection. We offer horse lovers a safe, relaxing and family friendly environment to learn and make memories.

While we cater to new and inexperienced riders, we serve all ages and skill levels. Our highly qualified and experienced staff works with over 20 well-trained, gentle ponies and horses.

What You Can Expect at "Own a Horse" Summer Camp

‘Own-A-Horse’ Camp offers a hands-on horse experience for all horse lovers! In a safe, structured atmosphere, students will learn what it is like to own a pony or horse.

While having FUN at the stables they will learn all aspects of horse care including, feeding, grooming, safety, how horses think, stable management, and more! Kids will ride the horses every day in a variety of disciplines. At the end of the week they will earn an award.

Topics covered throughout the week include:
Safety on and around the horse
Horse Psychology – what makes a horse tick?
How much does a horse cost?
Help, my horse is sick!
Various riding disciplines and the differences
Feeding and general horse care
Different breeds, colors and markings
And more

Other fun activities include barn games, horse crafts, giving a horse a bath, braiding your horse’s mane, and more!

"Own a Horse" Summer Camp Session Details

Location: 8001 Patterson Ave SE, Caledonia 49316

Just 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown Grand Rapids.

The camp takes place at our beautiful horse farm Legacy Stables with an indoor arena with heated viewing area and classroom, an outdoor arena, and trails.

Camp is open for: All kids age 6 & up, all skill levels.

Dates: Spring break April 5-9
Summer: Weekly Monday through Friday, June through August
Christmas Break 2021

Times: 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM and/or 12:00 PM -3:00 PM.
Half day or a whole day options.

Please remember:
Wear long pants and enclosed shoes.
Please bring a snack and drink for the day (lots to drink as it gets hot).
We supply riding helmets and all the horses specific tack needed for the rides.
Masks are required. We practice frequent hand washing, encourage social distancing, and disinfect equipment between uses.

West Michigan summer camps are ON for 2021! Many camps fill up quickly, so sign up as soon as possible.

While I do love summer camps, the cost can add up, especially if you have multiple children.
