Bavarian Blast Opening Update
You’ve probably heard the news that a new indoor waterpark is coming to Michigan: Bavarian Blast in Frankenmuth.
We know it’s going to be an awesome place to spend a midwest family vacation.

Bavarian Blast, the brand-new waterpark resort at the Bavarian Inn, will feature Michigan’s first swim-up bar (and yes, it’s heated and open year-round!) and is set to become the largest indoor waterpark in the state.
Frankenmuth, already famous for Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, is really stepping up its waterpark game with this addition.

Bavarian Blast is located at the Bavarian Inn, 1 Covered Bridge Ln, Frankenmuth, MI 48734

When Will Bavarian Blast Open?
Of course, the big question on everyone’s mind: when will Bavarian Blast finally open?
Originally expected in fall 2024, the timeline has been postponed again. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to spend your spring break here.
The hotel is now saying they’re hoping to open Bavarian Blast in April 2025, but there’s yet to be an official announcement.
A comment on their Facebook page says:
At this time we do not have a firm opening date for the waterpark but know that it will not be prior to Mid-March. Our contractors feel confident we will be open in April. Please know that we’re working tirelessly to ensure every detail exceeds your expectations. Please feel free to call our reservations team for more information on booking! We thank you for your patience during this time. The wait will be worth it, and we can’t wait to share this incredible experience with you soon.

Fortunately, the current waterpark is fully operational, and new attractions like laser tag are already available, so there’s plenty to enjoy in the meantime.
New Amenities Now Open
Even though the waterpark itself isn’t ready to welcome us yet, there are several NEW additions that are now available.
You can book a stay at Bavarian Inn and enjoy these things now:

Rock N Roll Mini Bowling
Lexi’s Lanes is everything you love about bowling, but on a smaller scale.
With four lanes of fun, it’s perfect for all ages.

Three-Story Rope Course
Adventure-seekers will love climbing on the three story ropes course.
It’s 45 feet high and has 25 different obstacles, zig-zag beams, Sky-Rail® zipline, bridges, Walk the Plank, Rolling Log and more.

Laser Tag
Prepare to battle it out in Dragon’s Lair, the all new giant laser tag arena.
With multiple game formats to choose from, create the adventure that’s best for your family.
Earn points, storm the castle, and slay the dragons to victory!

Rock Climbing Wall
Challenge your family and friends to see who makes it up the wall the fastest!
Sneak Peek at Bavarian Blast
The cool new amenities are reason enough to book a visit at Bavarian Inn, but it’s the new indoor waterpark that we’re all anxious to visit.
If the comments on social media are anything to go by, we already know what Michigan is buzzing about with the new waterpark (yes, swim-up bar, you’re a rockstar).
But beyond that, 16 waterslides, the giant wave pool, the lazy river, and the open roof are all up there as favorites in the making. And we can’t forget the giant kids’ water playground with tipping bucket, or the indoor/outdoor spas.
Honestly, we’ll probably have to try everything before we can pick a winner.
Here’s a look at what’s coming to Bavarian Blast – Michigan’s largest indoor waterpark:

Swim Up Bar
Bavarian Bootlegger Bar will be Michigan’s FIRST swim-up bar!
This year-round spot will have frozen cocktails and all our bar favorites.

Not-So-Lazy River
Greta’s River Run is the 85,500 gallon Not-So-Lazy River. It will have a tranquil garden theme.
Look for flower and vegetable gardens, bird bath and water sprays.
If we can grab a drink and float around the lazy river, sign us up!

Big Kid Play Area
Your bigger kids will find Cuckoo’s Chaos and never want to leave.
It will have four thrilling waterslides, both open and enclosed.
Plus a climbing area with a huge dump bucket (minus the actual bucket – it’s a cuckoo clock instead).

Wave Pool
Stay close to the “shore” and let the waves gently lap you.
Or get more adventurous and head into the huge waves in the deeper water.
The wave pool at Bavarian Blast has various wave patterns including “the Big Kahuna”.

Toddler Zone
Toddlers are covered, too, at Puddle Platz.
This zero-entry pool will have a tot bounce, water table, two aqua domes, and waterslides.
When you need a break from the waterpark, there’s also a smoothie bar and private cabanas with flat screen TV, refrigerator and lockable storage box.
