Dining Out, With Kids? Why, Yes!

I love to eat at restaurants. I don’t have to cook and, more importantly, I don’t have to do the dishes. I like to take our kids out to dinner sometimes, but it can be a challenge. Since I know they are not going to be perfect little angels, I want a place where the other patrons won’t be bothered.

New place called Big E’s opened recently at 2325 E. Beltline. South of Burton North of Woodland. Free kids meals on Mondays. Great place !

I can’t believe San Chez is on the list. It was an awful experience for our children, and was pricey to boot! The only saving grace for kids is the quick service, but they were not happy with the menu selections. We only go there for an adult evening now, because for that it’s perfect.

      Kim,
This post was based on information gathered from our readers. We plan on redoing this post again in the fall – again based on information gathered from our readers. Please stay tuned so you can get your favorite kid-friendly restaurant on the list! Everybody has a different opinion, we’d love to hear what your favorites are in at that time!

I like The Mitten Brewery, Big Bob’s pizza and the Harmony Brewery. The last one has an extensive library for kids who love to read while they wait. Any place that offers beer, kids menu is good and it will make everyone feel happy 🙂

I find Arnie’s (the west side location) to be very kid friendly – it’s spacious, welcoming, friendly staff, has a kids menu and the yogurt machines

We really like Gus’s Original. It’s a laid back atmosphere. He enjoys the fireplace seating in the winter and outdoor seating in the summer. And the Mooville ice cream.

Our favorite place to take him is the Downtown Market. There’s plenty of space to walk around, lots to see, and many food choices all in one spot. We can walk right to the park after, and still use the 90 min of free parking.

Try Pizza Ranch on 28th street. It recently opened and is great for kids. It’s big with lots of space and is a buffet. I sometimes think buffets are easier for kids because you can get up and get different things throughout the meal so they don’t have to sit for so long. They have “kids eat free” night on Tuesdays. They also have a soft serve ice-cream machine!

They have delicious food and a clean space with friendly/helpful staff!

I guess other parents have different priorities than I do when choosing a good kid-friendly restaurant, because I disagree with a lot of the ones on this list.

I’m actually surprised to see Brann’s on the list. We went there for the first time a couple weeks ago and said we’d never go back with kids. REALLY slow service (not fun with a toddler and baby), toddler’s food was served extremely hot, and we never were given a “coin” or told anything about a candy crane. There weren’t any other kids in the restaurant and we felt really out of place. Maybe others have had a better experience at a different location than the one we went to.

Happy to see Omelette Shoppe on here as they do a wonderful job! We also love Big Bob’s Pizza (popcorn while you wait is a bonus)!

I have never taken my 7-year-old to any of those places.

Then again, she doesn’t like burgers, pizza or eggs.

For a truly adult environment and great food, try Bistro Bella Vida, free wifi, noisy so a child isn’t disruptive and excellent food choices!! Our toddler and teen equally do great there!

While I love to support local restaurants, many of the ones I’ve taken my kids to didn’t even have high chairs or boosters, the tables were too close together, and the menu too eclectic for my picky eaters. I’m not paying $7 for my kid to refuse to eat the gourmet grilled cheese because they thought they were getting “normal” grilled cheese.

My kids love the Electric Cheetah, Green Well, Mitten Brewery, Johnny B’z, Brick Road Pizza, and the Corner Bar. Support local restaurants and not chains.
