Calling all moms – we need a break!
Between thinking about breakfast, lunch, and dinner EVERY DAY, soccer practice, bath time (how do kids get dirty SO fast!?), and 1,000 tantrums a day, I think some mommy and girlfriend time is in order – and we have a list to help!
West Michigan is full of things for you to do with your pals, whether you seek a high energy night or something low key.

West Michigan has this and more in store for ladies looking for a night on the town. With over 50 ideas here, you may just have to try a few when you next venture out. What are your favorite mom’s night out plans?
MOMMY NEEDS A DRINK
01 | Go wine tasting. Hudsonville Winery offers frozen wine slushies, and Robinette’s offers wines and ciders in their showroom. Or try heading out to a local restaurant on a Wednesday, most have wine specials because it’s “Wine Down Wednesday”.
02 | Sign me up! Donkey Taqueria has a series of tequila school! You have to go to their Facebook Page and search under their Events tab to see when classes are available, but this is a class you don’t want to miss!
03 | Discover why Grand Rapids was named Beer City USA and go brewery hopping. Pick up or download the Beer City Brewsader Passport and become a Brewsader! Either you can make your way around town on your own, or you can hop aboard the Beer City Runner, or pedal your way around on the Great Lakes Pub Cruiser.
04| Free wine tastings at Cherry Republic in Holland! Maybe cherry wine will be your favorite, but there are so many different types of samples to choose from!
05| Learn about the distilling process and the principles behind it on a Long Road Distillers Tours.
07| Peruse an antiques shop. Century Antiques, Lost and Found GR, Eastown Antiques, and Bluedoor GR are all great options and full of vintage finds. Our Vintage/Recycle Shopping Guide has even more shopping ideas.
08| If cozy cottage and rustic farmhouse are your style, shop at The Found Cottage in Hudsonville!
09| The last Sunday of each month, from April through September, head to the Allegan Antiques Market. With over 400 dealers, there is something for everyone!
11| Spend an afternoon outlet shopping at Tanger Outlets.
ADULT DANCE PARTY
13| Enjoy GRAM on the Green, an outdoor summer concert series on Thursday nights, filled with FREE outdoor live music, dancing, food trucks, and a cash bar. Come for the music, and stay for the art. While this series only last through the summer, there are other great music events at the GRAM throughout the year such as, GRAM After Dark: Quiet Clubbing.
14| Enjoy live music at Billy’s Lounge. Although rooted in the blues, you’ll hear performances from all genres.
15| Show off your salsa dance moves while the DJ keeps you dancing all night long with the hottest Latin Music! MeXo has salsa dancing night every second Saturday of the month!
16| Catch one of the Moveir Dance Studio open dance classes in Wyoming.
17| Slide on your boots and go line dancing! The BackForty Saloon, located in the heart of GR, offers great live music Thursday – Saturday. If you would like lessons check out the Twisted Bull on Thursdays.
18| Join the Grand Rapids Swing Society and learn to swing dance! Lessons are held every Tuesday and Wednesday nights at different locations throughout town, so make sure to check the website for locations.

20| Canoe or kayak one of West Michigan’s many lakes and rivers. GR Paddling offers Paddle & Dine trips at various locations around West Michigan. In addition to canoes and kayaks, AAA Canoe Rental in Rockford offers tubes, and Bill & Paul’s Sporthaus rents by the day, weekend or even week!
21| Try SUP boarding (Stand up Paddle). The Outpost in Holland rents boards and provides lessons.
22| Download the free app GR Walks and take a walking tour of your town!
23| Take advantage of Grand Rapids greens and go golfing. Experience GR has a great list of local courses to choose from.
24| Challenge each other to a game of tennis, or try your hand at pickle ball; Grand Rapids Pickleball Club offers lessons at Belknap Park.
25| Soak in the classical sounds of the Grand Rapids Symphony. Performances are scheduled all year long.
26| Visit one of our many great bookstores. Barnes & Noble offers a variety of programs including game nights, book club and more! Other local favorites include Argos Book Shop, Baker Book House, and the adorable Books & Mortar.
27| Take a stroll and enjoy nature and art in harmony at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park.
28| Stop by the concierge desk and pick up a free self-guided tour brochure at GR’s most famous historic hotel, the Amway Grand.
29| Join an open painting session at either Brush Studio or Bamboo Studios. Or, get creative while having a cocktail with Wine & Canvas, hosted at their studio or restaurants throughout West Michigan.

31| Laugh together while taking in a comedy show at Dr. Grin’s in The B.O.B. Performances run Thursday through Saturday.
33| Watch anything from comedy to drama to improv at the Dog Story Theater.
34| Think you and your girls could make a good comedy team? Learn the basics at The Comedy Project, located on booming westside of Grand Rapids. Providing classes in three areas of study: improvisation, comedy writing, and comedy performance.
36| See festival award-winning independent, foreign and documentary movies at the UICA. Multiple shows are scheduled every Tuesday through Sunday.
37| Be moved through music, drama and story. Visit Opera Grand Rapids and take in intimate performances, or watch world-class performances on screen as the Metropolitan Opera broadcasts live at Celebration Cinema North.
38| Watch as Christian artists perform the arts on stage at the Master Arts Theatre in Grand Rapids.
40| Watch your favorite cult classic at the Wealthy Theater. While there, Community Media Center members can take advantage of the only brew-in-view in GR and purchase beer, wine or a mixed drink to enjoy during the show.

41| Indulge in dessert. For ice cream, head to Furniture City Creamery (amazing Vegan options!) Spoonlickers, or Love’s. Try Cakabakery (they now have a Holland store!), Sugar Mommas or Sweetie-licious for baked goods. And…for something more ‘mature’, try the ‘Tarta de Chocolate al Whiskey’ at the San Chez Bistro or go gourmet at the La Dolce Vita the dessert and cigar lounge in the basement of The Chop House.
42|Mimosa, Salted Dark Chocolate, Chocolate Raspberry, and Cherry Vanilla, just to name a few. Enjoy one of the many cream puff and macaron flavors at Le Bon Macaron in Grand Rapids.

47| Cannonsburg has something for every season! Downhill ski in the winter and zip line in the summer. And, all the time in between you can hike, bike, or grab a drink at the Cedar Lounge.
48| Grab a frisbee and try disc golf. Earl W Brewer Park, Johnson Park and Riverside Park are just a few of the many courses located in and around Grand Rapids.
50| Want a morning out on the beautiful dunes of Lake Michigan? Head to Saugatuck and ride the Dune Rides, which is open from early May until mid-October.
51| Enjoy an event, or just hike the trails, at a local nature center. Blandford, Howard Christensen, Wittenbach/Wege Center, and the Outdoor Discovery Center in Holland all offer great learning opportunities and beautiful grounds.
52| Enjoy the sights of Grand Rapids via a Segway. Segway tours of Grand Rapids offer guided rides through the town, highlighting local hot spots.
53| Take a self-guided walking tour of Heritage Hill and learn about 37 of the district’s architectural beauties!
54| Hit up the Downtown Market, in summer there are two popular markets: The Vintage Street Market and the Made in MI Pop-up Marketplace. You can browse through dozens of vendors who set-up shop out front under the roof in the area known as the Market Shed. Then head inside for a drink and bite to eat. Or plan ahead and sign up for one of their many types of classes.
55| And finally, take a walk along the Grand River. Start at Fish Ladder Park and head south, walk through Ah-Nab-Awen Park (go ahead and take a selfie with the amazing view of the city behind you), pass the public museum, cross the river at the Blue Bridge, and then hopefully the water isn’t too high, and you can walk the boardwalk all the way back up to 6th Street Park, where you can cross the Grand River again, and then back down to Fish Ladder Park. I absolutely love this walk, and I hope you and your girlfriends do too!
