ArtPrize
ArtPrize
ArtPrize is an open, independently organized international art competition which takes place for 19 days each fall in Grand Rapids, Michigan. More than five hundred thousand dollars in prizes are awarded each year, which include a $200,000 prize awarded entirely by public vote and another $200,000 prize awarded by a jury of art experts.

This Massive Art Event has Activities for the Whole Family

ArtPrize is celebrating the big 1-0, and whether you’re taking it in for the first time or are a seasoned ArtPrize veteran, each year brings something new. The innovative pieces on display stretch our imaginations and bring hundreds of thousands of visitors to our downtown. It’s the perfect way for families to experience Grand Rapids at its finest.

Year after year, what keeps me interested in checking out ArtPrize is that you can interact and get creative. From interactive installations to a Scavenger Hunt, there are exciting events happening every day.

ArtPrize Labs has a STEAM Lab (located at Rosa Parks Circle this year) with weekly creative design challenges, plus a STEAM Mobile Workshop that has pop-up art making activities.

LIFEWTR is turning your skin into a glowing piece of art with Body Marbling. John Ball Zoo is taking over the ArtPrize Visitor Pavilion with animal visitors and hands-on experiences.

And if you’re not quite sure where to start when it comes to exploring ArtPrize with your family, try our Family Walking Tour that helps you navigate favorite stops for kids. Or get some insider tips from seasoned ArtPrize parents that can help you come prepared.

Our list below is continually updated with the latest dates and times of ArtPrize 10 events that families will love. Check it out before you head to ArtPrize to make sure you don’t miss a thing.
