The Indian Mounds Rock & Mineral Club meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month, featuring demonstrations, speakers, and opportunities to learn. Junior Club activities are available for children 6-17. BEGINNING IN MAY our meetings will be held at Blandford Nature Center!
Treasure hunting is a great way to spend the day! Children and adults can begin or add to a rock collection while learning about earth science and geology in an exciting way.
Artisan demonstrations will include rock and cabochon polishing, geode cracking, jewelry making, and our ever-popular Children’s Table featuring Grab Bags and Egg Carton Rock Collections. Children can also hunt for a shark tooth at select times!
Club members and vendors offer items ranging from 50 cents to thousands of dollars. You will find Rock and Mineral Specimens, Micromounts, Crystals, Fossils, Beads, Polished Stones, Carved Stone Figures, Jewelry, Lapidary Supplies and Equipment, Books, and More!!!
Many displays and exhibits are available, some museum quality. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the different minerals, and how they are formed. Be sure to bring in a rock you need help identifying.

Here’s what parents had to say last year:
“This was an awesome and fun way to introduce my grandson to this area of science! He collected and learned about gems and rocks, and even had a rock cracked open to see the “crystals” inside! He takes his tray of gems out often to check them!!! I couldn’t ask for a more fun way to introduce him to this.“
