This large park has a playground, pavilion, and gazebo with grills, picnic tables and paved and natural trails for walking or biking.

The trails are short and connect to the fishing lagoon. You can walk the paved trails around the lagoon, crossing three small wooden bridges as you go. This is a favorite spot for kids to look for fish in the lagoon.

The trails through the woods are short and flat, with a natural surface. It's an easy hike to add on to an afternoon at the playground.

Most of the park is out in the open for a full-sun experience.

Ride or walk down the paved pathway through a beautiful nature preserve full of wetlands, prairie, and forest.

This path is a great place to take your young child and their bike, whether they’re pedaling with training wheels, using a balance bike, or scooting along on their own.

During winter months, take a spin on the ice skating pond then head over to the festively decorated covered bridge for your next holiday card.

Located along the Thornapple River, there's a cute playground, beautiful amphitheater and is in walking distance to ice cream at the Ada Village General Store.

Perfect for toddlers, it has a small separate playground as well as a smaller splash pad.

For the older kids, it has a larger playground area with play structures. There is also a second bigger splash pad, a giant sandbox, an Octoball pit, picnic tables, basketball hoops and baseball fields.

The trails are well-marked, and there are plenty of options to choose to make your hike shorter or longer, depending on your level of adventure.

This park is also excellent in the winter, offering sledding and groomed cross-country trails, lessons and rentals.

Kids will love hiking the trails and parents will love the beautiful river and wildflower views along the trails.

With a Grand River kayak launch, this property is also a great site to put in for your paddle on the Grand River Heritage Water Trail.

Please be aware that deer hunting (both gun and archery) is allowed at some Open Space Lands.

You’ll also find baseball & softball fields, play equipment, a 2.5-acre catch and release fishing pond, walking trail, soccer fields, football fields, pavilion and picnic area, and volleyball court.

There is even a dog park with fun climbing structures for your furry friend!

Disc golf, baseball & soccer fields, tennis courts, soccer complex, sand volleyball and cricket are just some of the activities you can do here.

There is also a short 1/4 natural surface loop trail. It goes through the woods and climbs a hill behind the picnic shelter.

From the north parking lot, a three-quarter mile paved trail connects the park to Eastern Ave.

The park serves as a staging area for the Thornapple Trail, which is a paved trail that leads to downtown Caledonia. Walkers, bikers and joggers can take advantage of this trail.

The park doesn't slow down during winter, with a large sledding hill and opportunities for ice fishing.

There is also short 1/3 mile walking trail around the park through the woods.

At the north end of the park, a 0.4 mile paved trail connects the park to the Fred Meijer M-6 Trail.

At the south end of the park, another short 1/3 mile long paved trail loops around the playground, shelter and picnic area.

The third trail connects the two sections of the park and features a scenic bridge in the middle over the creek.

A grassy unpaved hiking trail breaks off from the paved trails at the north end of the park, making a half loop around the playground and restrooms.

Kids will love the big playground structures, running around the grassy areas and exploring.

A ball diamond, playground, and an open shelter are available. This is a good place to play bocce ball.

With the main trail measuring just under one mile, Lepard Preserve is perfect for little legs who want to get out and explore nature!

While hiking the main trail loop, you can find a series of educational signs explaining various topics, including native plants, animals and processes that helped shaped the preserve.

This rail trail offers a mix of rural and urban, passing through towns, neighborhoods, woodlands and farmlands, traveling over and along creeks and rivers, including the Thornapple River.

Several areas with parking are available throughout the trail's route.

Good entry points are Main St & Mill Ave intersection in Caledonia, downtown Middleville behind the village offices, and Maple Valley High School east of Nashville.

It features a rentable pavilion with picnic tables as well as amphitheater.

NEW in 2023 is a small splash pad!

Kids will want to spend all day here (especially if there are low plane flyovers from the airport nearby!), so pack a lunch, some sunscreen, and sand toys and get ready for a treat!

There is a one-mile paved walking loop around the outer edge of the park and an 18-hole disc golf course, in addition to basketball courts, a dog park, and pickleball courts.

Walk among the shade from the mature trees and admire the amazing landscaping, splash pad with interactive fountains, and sculptures.

The park's location along the Thornapple River & Cascade Dam provide visitors with opportunities for fishing, canoeing & kayaking, or just relaxing in a hammock along the riverbank.

It includes sidewalks, paved pathways, and boardwalks around Reeds Lake and offers plenty of wildlife viewing adventures.

Reeds Lake is also an all-sport lake, which means visitors can use a motorboat, a paddleboard, a jet-ski, or kayak to enjoy all it has to offer.

Be prepared for heavy traffic on beautiful days…and moderate traffic on mediocre days.

This super fun kids park has a playground, picnic areas, sand volleyball courts that can be used for sand play when not in use, and is a host for baseball & soccer games. Manhattan Park is a fun place to hammock and you can find a pavilion for rent, nature trails and tennis courts as well.

During the winter, fly down the long sledding hill also located in the park.

Walk the beautiful paved walking trails along the lake, pack a picnic lunch, or grab dinner at Rose's right next door.

The park begins the 4-mile long Reeds Lake Trail system, so you and the kids will get your steps in for the day.

Paved trail goes around the lake. The park serves as an anchor for the four mile Reeds Lake Trail.

They even have some old school playground equipment. It's also a good place to hammock, play frisbee, or fly a kite.

Kids love to climb on Lorrie's Button, a big red button sculpture. Throughout the park you'll also find art and interpretive markers, making this a park for all ages. The park hosts many festivals and events throughout the year.

Older kids and adults will love the bike and walking trails, track and sports fields and courts. The younger kids will have a blast on the playground and the splash pad.

Families love the accessible beach ramp, kayak & canoe launch, and restrooms. Plus covered eating area, grills and picnic tables throughout the park.

Review the rules prior to heading out since it's a former gravel pit.

Parents will enjoy the free WiFi and covered picnic shelters to camp out while the kiddos play.

Splash pad offers refreshment on a hot day, and dogs can play at the dog park.

Even teens and adults will find this park a solid destination with its disc golf, volleyball, basketball courts and free WiFi.

The park is also next to Buck Creek Trail, so hiking and biking is an option - and if you want to stick around for lunch or dinner, there are picnic shelters with tables, a campfire area and charcoal grills.

Older kids can practice their skills on the baseball/softball and football/soccer fields.

Guests will also find picnic tables with grills, a ball field and short walking paths to key use areas.

Kids will love time on the playground, followed by some fishing and checking out the ducks and geese around the pond.

Paved walkways line the fishing pond. A dock with a wooden deck also juts out into the pond.

Adults and older kids will have a ball playing disc golf, sand volleyball or basketball on the lighted court.

Explore the beautiful hiking trails or catch a fish. Splash around on the sandy beach, set the kids loose on the playground, or play a sport.

There is a four-lane boat launch, and the park connects to a campground with hook-ups and cabin rentals if you're looking for an extended stay.

This park offers short jaunts through the woods, connecting different areas of the park on natural surfaced trails.

The longest walking trail is about 1/2 mile long, running between the beach parking lot and the spring house near the boat ramp.

The huge wooden play structure is complete with twisty slides, bridges, towers and tons to climb on.

There is also a separate fenced-in toddler playground.

Not interested in a play structure? Practice your baseball or tennis game instead or enjoy flying a kite through the wide open fields.

Terraced seatwalls are directed towards a community amphitheater dedicated to celebrating the performing arts.

Kids and parents will love hiking or biking on the trails in the summer and skiing and snowmobiling in the winter.

Tackle the entire 33.5 miles or just part of it - with some fun stops along with way!

Visitors will find little league and soccer fields, paved walking trails covered by large mature trees, picnic tables and two sets of play equipment.

Don't forget your furry friend, because Quincy Park also has a very nice shaded dog park suitable for big and small dogs.

Several of the trails lead to the sandy Lake Michigan shoreline, so it is a fun spot for the kids to break up the hike.

These trails are also very dog friendly, but note they are not allowed on the beach.

Adults, older kids and younger kids who are experienced and love a good hike will have fun counting the stairs up to the top, seeing the panoramic view and exploring the wooded trails.

The bridges, boardwalks and observation decks follow the river, offering beautiful, scenic views of nature.

Paw Paw Park encourages visitors to enjoy the park on paved or natural surface trails, a playground, or during a game of disc golf.

During the colder months, enjoy the silence of winter on snow shoes or cross country skis.

Kids will love working up a sweat climbing the dunes and then hitting the waves to cool off.

The whole family will love a walk on the pier to check out the lighthouse, Big Red.

You’ll also find pathways with observation decks overlooking a marshy area of the Macatawa River.

You can see the old windmill from the walking path, too.

It’s a popular destination during the annual Tulip Time festival as well.

The splash pad is located right next to Terra Square, where the summertime farmer's market is a huge draw as well.

Kids will love seeing wildlife and flowers and running around on the trails.

The park also includes a variety of athletic fields, a walking path, and a playground.

Rosewood Park has a two-story slide! And a splash pad!

There are so many different things to do - and a "secret," shaded playground with a zipline and "old school" equipment like a merry-go-round.

Dozens of picnic tables, huge open area, tons of woods for hiking and so much more.

Indoor buildings are available for rent.

Kids will love playing on the cool playground and then splashing around in the lake.

A one-mile walk on the paved path around the lake and the large dock jutting out into the lake rounds out a perfect day here.

Kids will love fishing off the dock on the small lake and playing on the playground.

Parents will love hiking (or skiing in the winter) the scenic trails.

Pack a picnic lunch and snag a picnic table by the playground to round out your day.

The trail is a work in progress and currently consists of two trails, linked by bike lanes.

The first portion, 4.8 miles in length, travels through shaded wooded areas, over rolling hills and under US-131 via a tunnel, where you'll end up in the western suburbs of Kalamazoo.

The trail then brings you through downtown where there are places to stop and grab a drink or a bite to eat.

The second section of the trail is 16 miles. It is hilly and winds, and part of it runs along the Kalamazoo River. This long portion of the trail will give you a bit of everything - suburbs, river views, parks, historical sites, food and drink stops, fishing and more!

Athletes can play soccer, tennis or basketball.

Next time you walk or ride the East West trail, stop by for a visit!

Pinewood Park also has lots of open area, with a soccer field, baseball diamond, skateboarding ramps and basketball courts.

In addition to the playgrounds, there is also a sandy area for digging and playing younger kids will love.

GRR reports that on any given day as many as 300 aircraft may take off or land at the international airport.

The area has plenty of parking, a few picnic tables, a newer pavilion with clean bathrooms, and filtered water fountains.

Four trailheads are available for convenient parking:
A parking lot at the intersection of Burlingame and 60th
A parking lot at Division Ave and the M6 highway
Creekside Park, which offers restrooms and potable water from May 1 - Oct 31
A small parking area on Wing Ave, just north of 60th St.

Families love the playground, dune climb and a dune stairway, picnic areas, two picnic shelters, four sand volleyball courts, modern restrooms, and seasonal concession with vending machines.

Pets permitted on leash October - April only.

The only way down to the beach is down a wooden staircase or a set of dunes, so plan accordingly. Sandy trails to key use areas, including through the tunnel to a beach overlook deck.

Little ones will love splashing in the warm, shallow channel and the big kids will love jumping the waves on the big lake.

The dune climbs aren't too tough, and the whole family will love the view from the top.

Visitors will find a picnic area and shelter with grills, playground, restrooms, hiking & equestrian trails, biking paths, and athletic fields.

Don't forget Fido - this park is dog-friendly!

Located near the marina and ice cream, kids will love this interactive splash pad and parents will love the break it provides.

Kids and adults will love the endless sandy beach, jumping big waves, strolling the pier to the lighthouse and, of course, walking to get ice cream!

One of the park’s main attractions is the dune climb along the Dune Overlook Trail, an approximately half-mile roundtrip climb with about 220 steps and benches along the way.

To learn more about the dunes, stop by the Gillette Sand Dune Visitor Center.

There are plenty of fairly easy trails with amazing river views and lots of potential for wildlife sightings!

And don't forget a stop at the Nature Center - the kids will love seeing wildlife in action here!

The park includes forested dunes, an 80-acre inland lake, river views and wetlands.

As an added bonus – there’s a great playground just across the street in Ferrysburg’s Coast Guard Park and a Lake Michigan Beach just down the road at North Beach Park.

Get a good workout hiking the wooded trails and reward yourself later relaxing and playing at the beach!

Kids will love climbing the dunes, hitting the beach and exploring the miles of trails.

In the winter, everyone will love sledding, ice skating and trying out the awesome luge track!

There are several trailheads if you want to shorten the trail, and many small towns along the way with fun stops for the kids.

This trail can be bumpy so leave the bike trailers at home.

When you need a break from playing on the beach, take a short hike up the wooden stairway to see the views from the top of the sand dunes.

Restrooms are only open in the summer.

Dogs are not allowed from May 1 - September 30. They must be leashed the rest of the year.

Rent jet-skis & paddleboards, take a kite-boarding lesson, and play sand volleyball.

Those looking for a more relaxing trip to the beach will find a playground, restaurant and concessions, wheelchair accessible beach walk, picnic tables and restrooms.

Pere Marquette beach is raked daily, so it is no surprise it is listed as one of the cleanest beaches by the National Healthy Beaches Campaign and the Clean Beaches Council.

Hiking trails are both sandy and boardwalks, with steps to multiple observation decks poised to showcase Lake Michigan.

Afterwards, sink your toes into the cool sand and water on the swimming beach.

The playground is full of fun for the kids and there is a lot of area to run around and kick some soccer balls.

Round out the day with a nice picnic lunch at the picnic shelter!

The playground is perfect for kids of any age - even toddlers with its padded surface and low equipment.

Kids will adore the zipline, and the older kids will be thrilled that this park also has a skate park.

Add to these things a beautiful fishing pond and lots of sporting options - this park is a solid destination.

The best part: it is fenced in with one way in and out, so it is safe for little wanderers.

Located behind the Tri-Cities Family YMCA in Mulligan’s Hollow park, this newly redesigned playground is fenced in and features a bouncy, rubber play surface, sure to soften any tumbles your crawler or little walker may take.

The only drawback to this park is trying to get the kids to leave at the end of the day!

Start out your day hiking the trails through the dunes to the lookout for breathtaking views, spend time at the playground, and pack a picnic lunch to enjoy at the shelter.

Your furry family members will even enjoy this park with a fenced in area to ditch the leash.

Round out your afternoon with a dip in the lake - just a short walk from the park!

Along the way are abundant beaches, bayous, lakes, rivers, parks and attractions for tons of fun and beautiful scenery.

Easy access to the trails from Grand Haven State Park. Other access points include Coast Guard Park, North Beach Park, Chinook Pier and Hofma Park.

It follows Lakeshore Drive and connects Grand Haven State Park to Holland State Park. It also crosses through beach parks and natural areas - Rosy Mound, Kirk Park and Tunnel Park.

Because the trail runs along Lakeshore Drive, pedestrians and bikers should watch out for cars coming in and out on driveways in residential areas.

Lots of activities along the way to break up your walk or ride - beaches, parks, dunes, playgrounds and more. Parking is available at several of the parks.

Good access points are Holland State Park, Rosy Mound, Kirk Park and Tunnel Park.

Providing a link between the Muskegon Lakeshore Trail and the Musketawa Trail, the route goes through neighborhoods and gives access to schools and businesses in town.

It also goes through the Jefferson Historic District with large Victorian and Queen Anne-style homes for exposure to some history and architecture.

Trailgoers are treated to sights of the lakes, the channel, the South Pier Lighthouse and sand dunes.

Trail also provides convenient access to area attractions and restaurants.

There is plenty of parking available at various places along Lakeshore Drive, Heritage Landing, Muskegon Lake Nature Preserve and Pere Marquette Park.

It travels through farms, orchards and forest areas and has scenic overlooks and picnic tables to stop and rest or have some lunch along the way.

Be sure to keep your eyes open for deer and other wildlife.

Trail is also great for cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and horseback riding (on a certain section only!) Trail-goers will find stops along the way for ice cream and other goodies.

Trail has both a northern and a southern trailhead, or it can be accessed at other various points along the route.

Park at Stu Visser Trails and take the Ottawa Beach Road bike path to Holland State Park. You'll pass the entrance to Mt. Pisgah - stop and climb if you want fantastic views.

Spend some time at the Holland State Park beach and then get back on your bikes to pedal up to Tunnel Park for another beach and playground stop.

Next stop: Bowerman Blueberries farm market for some yummy treats (seasonal hours, check before heading out.)

Finally, make your way back to the northern end of Stu Visser Trails. Pedal the natural trails back to your vehicle.
This route follows bike paths along busy roads. Watch out for cars coming in and out on driveways in residential areas.

The park is available for rental and is equipped with 1 picnic table (2 more picnic tables available for an additional $30.00) trash cans, electric, and use of the downtown restrooms.

The nature trails lead to stunning views, the kids have plenty of places to play, photo ops are top notch and there is no shortage of things to do here - from disc golf to kayaking to a fish ladder and more.

This wonderful park is best known as the home of the “Ledges”—ancient sedimentary rock outcroppings lining the shores of the Grand River.

Facilities include six picnic sites, three miles of trails, volleyball, basketball, playground. Kayak launch for privately owned boats.

It's just a 40-minute drive for those used to hiking in Grand Rapids.

Spanning over 250 acres (including parts of the North Country Trail), this is a popular place for kids and families to hike, explore an historic covered bridge, play on the playground, or take fall family photos.

Stoney Lakeside Park offers a sandy beach for kids to cool off after playing on the modern play structure.

Visitors will also find an easy spot to launch a kayak or paddleboard, and great fishing spots along the shore.

The dog park is a fenced-in space with benches for owners, and access to the lake (not people friendly). There is also a separate area for small dogs.

The 80-acre Grand River Riverfront Park includes two islands.

The south portion of the park has a canoe launch, two softball fields, a lacrosse field, 8 soccer fields, and a playground with equipment designed for ages 4 to 12. There's also a mile-long paved nature/walking path, a scenic overlook and fishing pier on the Grand River, one large picnic shelter with restroom facilities and one smaller one without. The park is open to the public every day from 8 AM to dusk, except for days that snow or water make driving in the park unsafe. Restrooms are closed from late October until late March.

The North side of the park is easily accessed at the corner of Bowes Road and Fulton Street in Lowell Charter Township. This side of the park has a small playground, gaga ball pit, pickle ball courts, and an ice cream shop (in season)

Kids and parents will have a ball playing at the beaches, hiking the sand dunes, exploring the many trails and having lunch staring at the gorgeous views of the lakes!

It is a growing trail that will eventually connect 12 communities through 80 miles of paved pathways.

It is perfect for family walks or bike rides, as parks and stops are available along the trail.

Good entry points are Fremont Lake Park, Branstorm Park and Locust Street Staging Area.

Townsend Park also has baseball diamonds, fishing, and creek stomping for a day of fun.

The playground has several unique play structures, and there is plenty of grassy space for kids to run around and burn up some energy.

The most popular part of the trail is the stroller-friendly boardwalk that extends out into the lake.

Bring your pole on your adventure, too, because this is a popular spot to fish.

There are several mostly flat trail loops available.

This park is geared toward intermediate and experienced riders as it has a number of fast descents, table top jumps, roots, rocks and elevated bridges and structures.

While this park is open to pedestrians as well, it was designed specifically for mountain bike riders.

The trail will bring you through rural areas perfect for seeing lots of wildlife. Mountain bikers, birders and naturalists will find this trail perfect.

Winter riders will enjoy skiing and snowmobiling on the trail.

The town of Covert halfway through offers the only stop on the stretch for a restroom or food break. The last leg of the trail boasts lots of beautiful trees and vineyards.

Van Buren State Park caps the trail and leads to more trails and views of the Lake Michigan shoreline. Trailhead available at Hartford, and parking is available in South Haven near the beginning of the trail.

It boasts a stone-wall enclosed playground with swings, splash pad, paved pedestrian paths and volleyball court.

Trail crosses though Grand Rapids, Grandville, Walker, Wyoming and Byron Center.

An accessible trail, it has four trailheads and leads through and to several parks.

The four main trailheads are Millennium Park, Byron Center on 84th St., Johnson Park and Douglas Walker Park. You can also access the trail at any cross street along the route.

It features a splash pad, small playground, open fields and picnic tables.

Please note there are not any restrooms onsite so go before you hit the road!

The two-acre park has three different play areas to accommodate different ages and is packed with plenty of options for play.
